  30. “十一五”和中长期交通环境政策Transport and environment policies in future • Hundred kilometers subways will be built • Carburetor vehicles are banned in downtown roads since Feb 15, 2006 (http://www.china.org.cn/english/government/153765.htm) • Euro III and Euro IV will be put into force in middle 2006, and 2009 • Vehicle inspection and maintenance (IM) will be performed since 2006

  37. 环境空气质量改善状况-PMAir quality improvement-PM

  38. 结论Conclusions • Shanghai is at fast growth status in economics; • The economic structure is on the way of changing, from industry to financial and service center; • Along with economic growth, vehicle population increases dramatically; • As rapid increase of vehicle population, the reduction of emission from vehicle caused by current polices in transport and environment was counteracted.

  39. 结论Conclusions • Air pollution related to vehicle emission is going to be more seriously since early 1990’s; • If without any further control, the air quality will be badly polluted, and CO2 from transport sector will keep going up; • Public transit and vehicle emission control policy will obviously reduce emission from vehicles and mitigate CO2 emission as well; • Further reduction of GHG emission from vehicle will be largely depending technology innovation, fuel economy improvement, new concept design, application of renewable energies
