Development of legal framework  Law on Environmental Protection 2003– procedure of revising  Law on air protection from pollution 2004 - approved • Kosovo water law2004–approved • Law on spatial planning2003–approved • Law on nature protection 2005- approved in Parliament • Law on waste administration- 2005- approved in Parliament

  3. Development of legal framework Draft law on protection from ionizing and non-ionizing radiation- technical draft  Draft law on environmental fond -technical draft  Draft law on noise –in drafting process- technical assistance from REC

  4. Development of legal framework  R e g u l a t i o n s  Administrative Directive on EIA nr. 9/2004 - exist • Administrative directive on Establishing Environmental Protection Agency nr.25/2003 –exist  Administrative directive on Establishing environmental inspectorate nr.02/2004 - exist  Administrative Directive on Licensing of companies for conducting EIA reports nr. 6/2004–exist

Development of legal framework Administrative Directive-on regulation and standards for emissions from stationary sources -draft  Administrative Directive-on regulation and standards for emissions from mobile sources-draft  Administrative directive-on environmental permit-draft  Other administrative directives from horizontal and vertical legislations are in procedure of development

Development of policy framework Environmental Strategy for Kosova- approved  Kosova Environmental Action Plan – ongoing ,first draft is going to be finished in the end of September- financed by SIDA and implementing by REC Office in Kosova  Kosova Spatial plane -ongoing • Energy Strategy for Kosova- in process of approval

Development of policy framework Report on the State of waste 2005 - published  Strategic environmental impact from energy sector is in procedure of development  Strategy for Waste Water Treatment 2004  Action Plan for Implementation of European Partnership Recommendations-2005  Action plan for monitoring and information system- developed • Frame work for building and management of eco-fond of Kosovo-developed-2005 • Values of Natural heritage of Kosova 2005-published

Civil Society/Public Involvement in Policy Making and Implementation • Organization of campaigns in all municipalities for • Kosovo Environmental Action Plan-ongoing • Kosovo Spatial Plan  Preparation for organization of second Forum with Civil Society/Public Involvement in the follow-up of the KEAP (Kosovo Environmental Action Plan) •  Involvement of Civil Society/public in the EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) procedure

Civil Society/Public Involvement in Policy Making and Implementation Involvement of local NGO, civil societies on environmental education awareness campaigns thorough action “ Kosova – my home”  Organisation of debates for Kosovo Spatial Plane • Web page www.mmph.org updated • Involvement of minorities in debates and environmental educational awareness campaigns

Achievements in reducing environmental pollution •  Continuation of the projects for the improvement of environmental quality in Kosovo supported by donors • New landfill for Pristine and Obiliq- is going on • New landfill in Dragash –finished • New landfill in Podujevo- finished • Illegal dumps sides –closed, rehabilitated -26 •  Rehabilitation of mine dumps in Obliq, Mitrovica and Graqanice- is going on

Achievements in reducing environmental pollution Gravel and send extraction is under control  Waste treated • Metals….3018.9 t/month • Paper……940.0 t/month • Plastic…….52.5 t/month • Org. waste …52.5 t/month  Clean-up of some sites from hazardous waste and materials  Repackaging and safe disposal of hazardous waste and materials- KCP, KFOR, MESP

Environmental regional cooperation on cross border issues • Two ministerial meetings held with R of M on technical levels •  Participation on Conferences and workshops organized for SEE from UNEP , UNDP, REC and others. (environment and security and other environmental issues for trans border cooperation) • Balkans Peace Park project - Has been initiated in UK in 2000 and is in process of promotion - objectives: • - to promote for the public benefit the conservation , protection and improvement of physical and natural environment of mountains areas of Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo • www.balkanspeacepark.org
