  1. Questions Jesus Asked! ““Whose Wife Will She Be” or “Living with resurrection eyes”?”

  2. Junior High please head out now to the Hall Seminar Room

  3. Luke 20:27-40 (NIV) 27 Some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus with a question.

  4. Luke 20(NIV) 28 “Teacher,” they said, “Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and have children for his brother. 29 Now there were seven brothers. The first one married a woman and died childless. 30 The second 31 and then the third married her, and in the same way the seven died, leaving no children. 32 Finally, the woman died too. 33 Now then, at the resurrection whose wife will she be, since the seven were married to her?”

  5. 1. The God of the Living Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

  6. Luke 20 (NIV) 34 Jesus replied, “The people of this age marry and are given in marriage. 35 But those who are considered worthy of taking part in that age and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage, 36 and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God’s children, since they are children of the resurrection. 37 But in the account of the bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ 38 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.”

  7. Exodus 3:5 “I am the God” of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. • God makes it even clearer by telling Moses that His name is "I AM" (Ex 3:14). From the perspective of Moses (and us) this name is recorded throughout the Old Testament as "Yahweh" which means “He is”. • With God, every generation is present tense and once He is your God He is your God forever more.

  8. With God, every generation is present tense and once He is your God He is your God forevermore.

  9. Exodus 3:15 “This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation.” • John 11:25 I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies"

  10. 2. Living and Serving with Resurrection Eyes. 1 Corinthians 15:14, 16, 17 If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.

  11. God said to Moses I will be with you… • Isaac – Genesis 26:24 “I am the God of your father Abraham. Do not be afraid, for I am with you” • Jacob – Genesis 28:15 “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go” • Joshua – Joshua 3:7 “Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses” • Isaiah – Isaiah 41:10 “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand”

  12. Jeremiah – Jeremiah 1:8 “Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you” • Jesus & Us – Matthew 28:19-20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

  13. Luke 20(NIV) 38 He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive.” 39 Some of the teachers of the law responded, “Well said, teacher!” 40 And no one dared to ask him any more questions.

  14. Application • Jesus is the God of the living… • Heaven is going to better than the best on earth… • Earthly states are earthly; not heavenly, not eternal… • Serve God through resurrection eyes… • 1 Peter 5:7 (NIV) Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. • 1 Peter 5:7 (The Message) Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.

  15. Let’s Pray…
