  2. Dangers of deer to drivers • Thousands of people are injured and even killed in accidents involving deer. • Deer pose a great threat to drivers. • Here in Rowan county we have many deer. Even though nearly 600 were telechecked last year.

  3. Other dangers of deer to drivers • If deer weren’t harvested in this county or anywhere else. There would be many more accidents involving deer. • Possibly even you or a loved one could lose their life. • The next time you think deer hunting is cruel. Think of that.

  4. Affects of deer on commercial crops • Many people in this state and this region grow crops to make money. • For some farming is there primary source of income. • If deer numbers were left untouched. Not only would they over populate. • There would be a struggle to find food. Which in turn would cause deer to seek farmers crops as their primary food source. • These people would lose everything.

  5. Affects of not harvesting deer • When deer populations aren’t kept in check by hunting it affects the quality of deer also. • When there are more deer than an area can sustain. The deer must fight for food. • This leads to smaller deer do to less food to go around to the whole herd. • In areas where the herd is managed and there aren’t more deer than an area can sustain there are good chances of growing trophy size deer

Which can be used for improvements within the area. • This also provides a bigger deer for us hunters. • And a better opportunity for people to open guide services.

Positive reasons for harvesting deer • Deer provide an excellent food source. • Deer meat is naturally more lean and therefore better for you than beef or pork. • Deer meat can be substituted in almost any beef recipe. • There are also many processors that butcher the meat and give it to homeless or needy family if you don’t want it.

  8. These are all important reasons to harvest deer. • The next time you hear someone say that deer hunting is cruel. Tell them about some of these things and it might just change their mind.
