Get on the Boat! • A call forFaith • Promises call for Faith • What isFaith? • Rom.4:18-21“Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. And being not weak infaith, he considered not his own body nowdead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuadedthat, what He had promised, He wasable also to perform.”

  3. Get on the Boat! • To get on the boat would require: • Against hope believing in hope. • Considering not that it was impossible. • Being fully persuaded that what God had promised, He was able also to perform. • Gen.2:5-6“And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the earth.”

  4. A Failure to Get on the Boat • A lack ofFaith • Failure to believe God could do the impossible • Were not fully persuaded that what God had promised He could also perform

Noah’s Faith • Noah not only had to Get on the Boat but: • He had to convince others to get on the boat. • 2Pet.2:5“And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;” • He had to build the boat • Gen.6:14-16“Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breath of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.” • He had to put Animals & food on the boat • Gen.6:19-21 “And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female. Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive. And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.” • He Staggered not at the Promise through unbelief • Gen.6:22 “Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.”

Noah’s Faith • He Staggered not at the Promise through unbelief • Heb. 11:7“By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.” • If Noah Failed to: • Be a preacher of Righteousness • Build the Boat • Put animals & Food on the Boat • A Lack ofFaith

  7. Faith: Belief or Action? • Getting on the Boatwould require: • More than a belief in their heart • It would require belief + action. • They had to act. • They had to physically Get on the Boat. • True Faithleads people to act. Faith that saves is Faiththat obeys

  8. Noah’sFaith : Belief or Action? • Compelled him toaction. • Heb.11:7“By faithNoah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark…” • Noah’sfaithcaused him toobey God. • Gen.6:22 “Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.”

How do we Get on the Boat? • Having Faithin Christ • Rom.3:25“Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faithin his blood…” • Acts 13:38-39“Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this Man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:And by Him all that believeare justifiedfrom all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.” • Having Faith in Christ requires: • Against hope believing in hope. • Considering not that it is impossible. • Being fully persuaded that what God has promised He is able also to perform.

Faithin Christ:Belief or Action? • Believing in our heart • Rom.10:9-10“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” • Believing in our heart leads to obeying the gospel (action) • Rom.1:5“By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name;” • Rom.1:16“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth…” • 1Cor.15:1-4“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which Ipreached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures;”

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.” Rom.6:3-4“Know ye not, that so many of us were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with by baptism into death:..” Rom.6:6“Knowing this, that our old man is Crucified with him..”
