Allison is a student at UW Milwaukee and Kate is a Transfer student from UW Madison Kate needed to organize her courses following all the prerequisites and requirements in order to access the courses at UW Milwaukee. for example: Take Journalism and Media (JMC) 101 is critical in order to have an introduction to mass media, and it is a requirement for 201. Then, 201 is a requirement for media and writing 301. Moreover, if she pass 201 she can apply to be in the Journalism and Media program . (This will take more than 1 year!) Allison Kate

Kate: 1) It would be nice if D2L could visualize all the relationship to achieve my degree in Journalism, including all the requirements needed. 2) It would be useful to if D2Lvisualizes what you are already accomplish clusters of possible opportunities and alternatives, and alerts for deadlines. For example I would like to see in real time the classes that can fit different requirements, and I will use D2L to save my time and my money. 3) D2L in this way will make me more productive and efficient, and I can plan my future more quickly. For example, showing what classes can correlate undergrad and graduate program, or how I can switch a major into a minor, etc.. See what classes are more compatible in order to transfer or changing major across semesters.

Why Microsoft surface? • Provides a huge potential to improve communication and information delivery in the academic environment, through the concept of natural user interface: Direct interaction (no mouse, no keyboard, no manual or training to use the device), multi-touch, multi-user, object recognition, 360° user interface, progressive disclosure applications. • It represents the next level of the information experience, where sharing and exploring information is easier than ever.

  14. The application: This is a tool for the advisors to explain complicated academic procedures to their students, and also allows students to share their academic history with their advisors.

Application use As an advisor As a student I can place my academic card on the surface and log in to the UWM system that is a secure online location where all the academic records are stored I will see a menu of options that can help me to explain my questions to the advisor I can open the documents and share with the advisor that piece of content facilitating the decision making throug the academic options. • I will put my Id card on the surface and automatically I log on the university system database: • I will see a menu where I can access records from the database • I will have access to a 3D model of all the academic program . This allow me to explain the academic paths relevant for the students.
