  1. Voices United # 412 verses 1 & 3 This Is the Day This is the day, this is the day that our God has made, that our God has made; we will rejoice, we will rejoice, and be glad in it, and be glad in it. This is the day that our God has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it. This is the day, this is the day that our God has made.

  2. You are our God, you are our God, we will praise your name, we will praise your name; we will give thanks, we will give thanks, for your faithfulness, for your faithfulness. You are our God, we will praise your name, we will give thanks for your faithfulness. You are our God, you are our God, we will praise your name.

  3. My Life Flows On Voices United # 716 1 My life flows on in endless song, above earth's lamentation. I hear the sweet, though far off hymn that hails a new creation. Through all the tumult and the strife, I hear the music ringing: It finds an echo in my soul - how can I keep from singing?

  4. 2 What though my joys and comforts die? My Saviour still is living. What though the shadows gather 'round? A new song Christ is giving. No storm can shake my inmost calm, while to that Rock I'm clinging: since Love commands both heaven and earth, how can I keep from singing?

  5. 3 When tyrants tremble, sick with fear, and hear their death knells ringing: when friends rejoice both far and near, how can I keep from singing? In prison cell and dungeon vile our thoughts to them are winging: when friends by shame are undefiled, how can I keep from singing?

  6. 4 I lift my eyes; the cloud grows thin; I see the blue above it; and day by day this pathway smooths, since first I learned to love it. The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart, a fountain ever springing: all things are mine since I am Christ's - how can I keep from singing?

  7. Voices United # 690 From the Slave Pens of the Delta 1 'From the slave pens of the delta, from the ghettoes on the Nile, let my people seek their freedom in the wilderness awhile': so God spoke from out of Sinai, so God spoke and it was done, and a people crossed the waters toward the rising of the sun.

  8. 2 'From the aging shrines and structures, from the cloister and the aisle, let my people seek their freedom in the wilderness awhile': so the Son of God has spoken, and the stormclouds are unfurled, for his people must be scattered to be servants in the world.

  9. 3 When we murmur on the mountains for the old Egyptian plains, when we miss our ancient bondage, and the hope, the promise, wanes, then the rock shall yield its water and the manna fall by night, and with visions of a future shall we march toward the light.

  10. 4 In the maelstrom of the nations, in the journey into space, in the clash of generations, in the hungering for grace, in our agony and glory, we are called to newer ways by the God of our tomorrows who is God of earth's todays.

  11. Voices United # 651 Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah 1 Guide me, O thou great Jehovah, pilgrim through this barren land. I am weak, but thou art mighty, hold me with thy powerful hand. Bread of heaven, bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more, feed me till I want no more.

  12. 2 Open now the crystal fountain, whence the healing stream doth flow; let the fire and cloudy pillar lead me all my journey through. Strong deliverer, strong deliverer, be thou still my strength and shield, be thou still my strength and shield.

  13. 3 When I tread the verge of Jordan, bid my anxious fears subside; death of death, and hell's destruction, land me safe on Canaan's side: songs of praises, songs of praises I will ever give to thee, I will ever give to thee.

  31. Voices United # 537 Offertory Hymn – Your Work, O God, Needs Many Hands 1 Your work, O God, needs many hands to help you everywhere, and some there are who cannot serve unless our gifts we share. 2 Because we love you and your work, our offering now we make: be pleased to use it as your own, we ask for Jesus' sake.

  32. Offertory Prayer We offer these gifts, O God, a portion of the harvest of our labours. With them we offer ourselves and pray that you will guide us in being instruments of your loving justice. Amen.

  33. Prayers of the People We pray for fair treatment and justice, O God, in our troubled world, so that the resources of the developed nations are shared; so that those who pollute pay for the pollution; so that no child goes hungry, and no woman lives in fear; so that there is security and a good home for each man and woman at the end of the workday; so that education is offered to each young person, rich or poor; so that retraining is available to those who are out of a job and need to start again.

  34. Give the peacemakers a chief place among the world’s statespersons, O God, so that leaders of countries in conflict listen carefully to each other; so that the voices of the young and the generations yet unborn are taken into account; so that innocent civilians in the crossfire are noticed, and child soldiers are freed from their terrible entrapment; so that journalists covering a conflict are not harmed. Inspire us, O God, to be among those who will not rest until your just and sharing kingdom comes.

  35. We pray for fair treatment and justice, O God, among those who suffer. May health professionals (like nurse practitioners) who are denied healing opportunities because of professional barriers find a listening ear among the legislators. May those who have no family or friends to care or speak up for them find supporters and advocates. May the needs of those denied treatment because of prejudice or long waiting lists become public, so that administrators and politicians are compelled to take action. We pray for those sick at home or in hospital today (time of silent reflection).

  36. May those who have suffered loss – of a job, a loved one or friend, or of self-confidence – find those who will listen deeply to their frustration, their anger, and their emptiness. We pray for those who have suffered loss (time of silent reflection). Inspire us, O God, to be among those who will not rest until your just and sharing kingdom comes.

  37. We pray for fair treatment and justice within the church. Enable us to be open to innovative ways of worship and serving the neighbourhood. Enable us to listen to the wisdom of the old, and the simple, joyful needs of the young and young at heart. Enable us to think nationally and globally as well as locally when we give money and receive education. Enable us to thank openly and generously those who give time and talent to this faith community, especially those who are our teachers and leaders. We name them in silence (time of silent reflection)

  38. Inspire us, O God, to be among those who will not rest until your just and sharing kingdom comes. And, O God, we pray that we will be just followers of Jesus Christ. Give us the way of Christ so that we are aware of the powerless and offer them help. Give us the way of Christ so that we are slow to judge and quick to forgive. Give us the way of Christ so that we confront the self-serving and refuse to be cowed by the powerful.

  39. Give us the way of Christ so that we take time each day to meditate and pray. Give us the way of Christ so that we are aware of the superficial, and ready to laugh at ourselves and our inconsistencies. Inspire us, O God, to be among those who will not rest until your just and sharing kingdom comes.

  40. Voices United # 506 Take My Life and Let It Be 1 Take my life, and let it be consecrated, all for thee; take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise. 2 Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of thy love; take my feet, and let them be swift and purposeful for thee.

  41. 3 Take my lips, and let them be filled with messages from thee; take my intellect, and use every power as thou shalt choose. 4 Take my will, and make it thine; it shall be no longer mine; take my heart, it is thine own; it shall be thy royal throne.
