  2. Perfect Passive Tenses/Forms • 3 tenses = perfect passive, pluperfect passive, and future perfect passive • to form all 3 – use the 4th principle part (AKA perfect passive participle (PPP)) + an auxiliary verb (sum, esse) • ex) porto, portare, portavi, portatus

  3. perfect passive • use the present tense of sum + PPP • ex.) portatus, -a, -um est = he/she/it has been carried; he/she/it was carried • the participle technically modifies the subject, thus must agree in GENDER, NUMBER, and CASE • translating helping verbs = has/have been; were

  4. Pluperfect Passive • use the imperfect of sum + PPP • EX.) doctus, -a, -um eram = I had been taught • ex.) docti, -ae, -a eramus = we had been taught • translating helping verbs = had been

  5. Future Perfect Passive • use the future tense of sum + PPP • ex.) captus, -a, -um eris = you will have been taken • ex.) capti, -ae, -a eritis = y’all will have been taken • translating helping verbs = shall/will have been
