  3. Welcome Back • Continue to build upon what you learned • Leadership • Physical Fitness • Treating all with dignity and respect • Keep current on events • Good grades in all classes • Be a good teammate • Remember you are being observed every day

  4. Review Weekly Schedule • Monday – Accountability, Drill and Ceremony • Tuesday and Thursday – Accountability, Cadet Creed and class room instruction • Wednesday – Uniform inspection • Understand grooming and body piercing policy outlined in CCR 145-2 https://www.usarmyjrotc.com/jrotcRes/downloads/CCR145-2.pdf • Friday – Physical Fitness • Dress out is a must (If you fail to dress out 3 or more times during 9 weeks = automatic 0)

Expected Behavior in Classroom • Treat everyone with dignity and respect • Be quiet and respectful when others are speaking • Be on time to class/in seat or in formation when bell rings • If you get tired stand-up • Participation in classroom discussions is a must • No hats, head scarf's or bandanas worn in class • No food or drink in the classroom • Keep classroom clean

Number of Cadets in JROTC and Status of Uniforms • 216 Cadets in 2013-2014 Viera Hawk JROTC Battalion • Cadets must return all JROTC policy letters signed by parents S: 6 September/No participation on teams allowed until all paperwork is signed • Transitioning soon to new JROTC Uniform: 20% of new uniforms are in • Will continue to wear current Class B uniform until all new uniform components are in • Class A jackets have 20 • Cadet Command only provides a limited number for Color Guard, and Battalion level chain of command • Winter JROTC jackets will be issued in the fall • No head gear will be issued unless on Color Guard or Drill Team • School campus is a no salute area

TEAM HIGHLIGHTS FROM LAST YEAR • Raider: Male Team 1 finished 2nd Region and placed 10th in the State Championship • Color Guard: Female Team finished 1st in the Region and placed 11th at State • Drill: • Squad Unarmed Drill Team finished 4th in the Region and placed 23rd in the State • Squad Armed Drill Team finished 4th in the Region and 11th in the State • Rifle Marksmanship Team: Finished 1st in the Region and placed 3rd in the State • Practices for 2013-2014 Teams: • Color Guard starts Monday 19 August 3:45 PM • Raider starts Monday 19 August 3:45 PM • Rifle Team starts Friday 23 August 7 AM

Policy Letter Highlights • Drill and Ceremony: Must wear tennis shoes or points deducted/No sandals or flip flops • Uniform Inspection: • Must wear all day on Wednesday • Miss 3 uniform inspections during 9 weeks/automatic failure • If absent on Wednesday must wear uniform next day or coordinate make-up with SAI or AI • No body piercings allowed to be worn with uniform • Male hair: neat in appearance not touching ears, eye brows or color (see https://www.usarmyjrotc.com/jrotcRes/downloads/8 library/publications/CCReg145 2.pdf • Female hair: natural color, and worn up • PT on Friday: Must dress out and participate in team sports or workout • Failure to dress out 3 times during a 9 weeks is an automatic 0 for discipline grade • Cadets are financially liable for the uniform issued to them

WHY WE NEED $30.00 LAB FEEs • Transportation to and from ROTC events • projected cost: $22 per 1 hr/ea bus driver and $1.25 per mile/ea bus projected cost: $400.00 ( for 2 buses) • Additional equipment needed to properly train Raider and Rifle teams • Additional rope and snap links for Raiders, snap links, • projected cost: $ 300.00 • Pellets, targets, o-rings, C02 for Rifle Team, • projected cost $ 600.00 • JROTC military ball January 29, 2011 • Tickets $22.00-$25.00 per Cadet (Lab fee helps reduce cost of ticket) projected cost: $ 3500.00 • Organizational Day TBD in March 2014 projected cost $700.00 • TOTAL COST for 2013 – 2014 = $5,500.00

  11. Booster Club Meetings • Booster Club Meetings: • 3rd Tuesday of every month 6PM • First Booster Club Meeting is this coming Tuesday 20 August at 6 PM/Pizza provided
