Holy Spirit, Who fills our hearts and minds, We are grateful For the joys and satisfaction Of responding to your call. Response: In your name Lord, we give thanks for the opportunity to enjoy the work we do in schools with children, young people and colleagues. We seek to grow in the knowledge and love of God, in the way of Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen
A reading based on Matthew 4: 18-22 Our story takes place by a lake…. whose waters are full of fish … whose surface is full of boats ….. A lake where men fish for food to eat. Along the shores of the lake comes the teacher. His footprints circle the edge. The footprints stop. His voice calls across the water saying, ‘Follow me’. The nets fall ….. the footprints move on and …. one becomes three. The footprints continue to circle the lake. Again they stop. Once more the voice calls out across the water saying, ‘Follow me ’. The footprints move on across the sand … out into the world … into tomorrow. The five becomes twelve…. the twelve become a hundred.. one hundred becomes a thousand … the thousand become a million … the million becomes billions. Still the voice calls across the world. Still the voice says, ‘Follow me’. The nets fall …. the footprints move on and ….. three become five.
Together we say: Help us to hear your calling voice and to follow where you lead. Finally, together we say: We thank you Father for your love and goodness in our lives, We invite Jesus to show us the way, We invite the Holy Spirit to direct us in all that we think, say and do. Send us out into the world in the power of your Spirit to live and work for your Praise and glory. May the light of God surround us, The love of God enfold us, The power of God protect us, And the presence of God watch over us. Amen.
