ALH at SLAC 3 Modes of Operation: • Standalone Alarm Loggers • All alarms to CMLOG, last 1000 msgs in alarm log • Multiple processes to logically divide PVs • No user interface - Xvfb (X virtual frame buffer) • Read-Only Alarm Browsers • View messages only, no logging • No global operator action • Operator Alarm Browsers (not yet used) • View messages • Operator action logging, no alarm logging • Global acknowledgement and other actions EPICS Collaboration Meeting, BESSY-II May 22, 2002

ALH – Additions to 1.2.9 • More verbose CMLOG “text” tag (-wCM) • CMLOG “host” tag set to IOC (-wCM) • Allow browser other than Netscape (-b) • Disable writing to alarm log file (-Dal) • Treat EOL in guidance like a blank line • Files needed for message broadcast kept in log area instead of config area EPICS Collaboration Meeting, BESSY-II May 22, 2002

ALH – Status, Comments, Wishes • In production since April, 2002 • In progress: throttling of CMLOG messages • Problem when using the LOCK feature • Need configurable delay time for message broadcasting • Problem with PV change logging when in global mode • Allow config file NoAck option to override the ACKT field • Replace config files with Oracle database EPICS Collaboration Meeting, BESSY-II May 22, 2002

  6. Channel Watcher Status • In production since January 2002 • ENUM and CW restart problems fixed • CMLOG is now a plug-in at build time • Distribution web page now available • …but CW currently works for only a special restore file format EPICS Collaboration Meeting, BESSY-II May 22, 2002

Channel Watcher To-Do List • In progress: throttling of CMLOG messages • Convert restore file format to type used by caGet and caPut • Add web interface for statistics • Replace config files with Oracle database • Write restore values to Oracle EPICS Collaboration Meeting, BESSY-II May 22, 2002
