  23. Interesting Facts •  In the 1930s, hats were worn for a sporty or flirtatious appeal. One of the most typical styles that captures the era is the "Florentine" hat. • "Real" fur wraps and floral print dresses were very popular in the 1930s. • Jockey briefs were so popular that over 30,000 pairs were sold within three months of their introduction. Cooper's  renamed their company to Jockey as know it today. • The Women's League of Health and Beauty was a major movement in the 1930's in the UK and the USA that led to more acceptable, more modern fashion and cosmetic practices.

Glossary of Terms • Glen Plaid- A suit pattern in the 1930s that included vertical and horizontal stripes intersecting at regular intervals to form a houndstooth check. • Houndstooth Check- A pattern of broken or jagged checks. • Twill Weave- One of three basic weave structures resulting in a characteristic diagonal pattern. • Perm- A permanent weave, very popular in 1930's. Chemical treatment makes hair stay curled for long periods of time
