The White River Basin spans approximately 2.7 million acres and includes the towns of Meeker and Rangely, home to less than 5,000 residents. Known for its vast wildlife, the area boasts the largest elk herd in North America and significant mule deer populations. Hunting and angling contribute over 300 jobs and $30 million in revenue. The basin features a variety of cold and warm water fisheries, including dozens of CRCT streams, and is central to extensive energy development in the Piceance Basin. Ongoing conservation efforts aim to protect natural resources while supporting local economies.
