  2. Theme Passage 2 Cor 3 5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God, 6 who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

  3. Ministry-while there are many kinds of ministry, all of them involve representing God by the giving of something of value to another- love, truth, help, hope, wisdom, service, sustenance, grace…

  6. 1) Ministry flows from a growing relationship with Jesus- Eph4:13-14 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith & of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

  7. 1) Ministry flows from a growing relationship with Jesus- Eph4:13-14 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro & carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting

  8. Ministry is more than just knowing about God, but a life & lifestyle that shares God with others. It is difficult to do ministry with God if we are not filling ourselves up with God.

  9. Eph 4 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--Christ--

  10. Eph 4 16 from whom the whole body, joined & knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

  11. Phil 2 12 …work out your own salvation with fear & trembling; 13 for it is God who works in you both to will & to do for His good pleasure.

  12. 1) Ministry flows from a growing relationship with Jesus- Eph4:13-14 Am I committed to growing spiritually? Are the commitments in my life helping or hindering my ministry as a Christian?

  13. How does spiritual growth help my ministry?

  14. 1) I will be equipped to do God’s will in my life– Heb 13 20 Now may the God of peace who brought up our Lord Jesus from the dead, that great Shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

  15. 1) I will be equipped to do God’s will in my life– Heb 13 21 make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever & ever. Amen.

  16. 1) I will be equipped to do God’s will in my life– Heb 13 The purpose of God’s work in us is not just to know His will or His ways, but to use what God has put in us to do His will through ministry to others.

  17. 2) I get to labor in love- Heb 6 10 For God is not unjust to forget your work & labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, & do minister.

  18. 2) I get to labor in love- Heb 6 We do a lot in this world that is merely work, ministry is a labor motivated by and filled with God’s love. As I grow to be more like Jesus, I minister more in the love of Jesus.

  19. 3) I fulfill God’s promises in my life- John 7 37 On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me & drink."

  20. 3) I fulfill God’s promises in my life- John 7 38 “He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water."

  21. 3) I fulfill God’s promises in my life- John 7 Growing in Christlikeness helps me to understand and apply all the things God said I am and can do.
