  4. Funding • The project is funded by INTERREG 3B(Atlantic Area)

  5. Aim • To use the Internet to enable better consultation between citizens and the different levels of Government involved in the regional and local development process

  6. Objectives • Develop an Internet based system to support effective consultation in regional/local decision making process • Test the usefulness of the system by carrying out a number of consultations • Test the feasibility of using the system to establish and maintain a network of public consultation good practice, knowledge and expertise across Europe.

  7. Outputs • An online multi-lingual consultation system that provides increased involvement of citizens in the local/regional decision making process and improved access to local/regional authorities, Detailed user manual. • A web based Centre of Excellence containing all best practice methodologies and processes derived from the project as well as links to project partners, demo of the system, link to open source application developed by La Rioja. • A business plan detailing characteristics of the product, market and marketing strategy and financial plan that explores the sustainability and diffusion of projects results

  8. System Functionality • The ECONET application currently allows users to enter text in four languages: • English • Spanish • Basque • Irish • The Application allows the user to input a consultation: • Displayed in any of the listed languages • Start date and end date • Title • Description

  9. System Functionality • Consultation can be open to the general public or closed and targeted to specific people. • Registered Users will be notified when a relevant consultation is published • Documents relevant to the consultation can be added and viewed by the participants.

  10. System Functionality • Questionnaires may be added to consultation in any of the listed languages with a variety of options for responses including: • check boxes, • True/False, • Yes/No • List Box • Free text answers. • Results from questionnaires may be recorded, manipulated and displayed in various formats: • Pie Chart • Graphs • Text • The Application provides Discussion forums.
