  1. Life Changing Inventions Of Karoline Knobloch Metzger and her family

  2. The First Car • The first car was invented in 1885, but not really used until the 1920’s. • Before the car was invented people got around using horses and buggies or by walking. When the car was invented it allowed people including Brooke’s great greatgrandma and her family to visit far away places in a quicker amount of time. • Automobiles also had other uses. They helped people with tasks great and small. In October 1913 Brooke’s great greatgrand parents used a new tractor as a form of transportation to move an old bank to use as their new home. This new home helped their family and without the tractor it wouldn’t have been possible to move that bank.

  3. The First Airplane • The airplane was invented in 1903, but like the car wasn't used until the 1920’s. • The airplane was the first step in transporting people around the country and the world. It gave people the opportunity to explore new places. It also helped cities prosper by transporting goods. • Airplanes helped families visit each other throughout the country, just like Brooke’s great greatgrandfather did when he was a hundred years old. The airplane allowed him the ability to visit his children who were living in a different state.

  4. Electricity • Electricity was first started being used in homes in 1905. • It helped Americans make their everyday lives easier. It gave them the ability to do more things in their homes. • Brooke’s great great grandma and her family were very fortunate to get electricity in their home in 1915. It was a great resource to them, and it allowed then to perform tasks quicker. With electricity they were able to see better later in the evening. Brooke’s great great grandma loved to sew and electricity allowed her to sew long into the night. One of the greatest tools received form electricity was the electric washer, no more hand pumping.
