  2. Living in the South during the winter is always a weather roller coaster. You are just as likely to have a 30-degree snow day as you are a 70-degree lake day! With this in mind, knowing the trails in your area is always a must. Meet East Lakeshore Trails! This local trail is both developed and maintained, in partnership with the TVA, by a dedicated group of volunteers organized by WATeR: The Watershed Association of the Tellico Reservoir. Like most amenities in Tellico Village, East Lakeshore Trail also acts as a representation of this area’s sense of community and environmental commitment.

  3. Open all winter, the trails are located along the east shore of Tellico Lake. The trail system measures at over 26 miles with 8 accessible branches. With an overall trail difficulty of easy to moderate, these trails are known for being quiet, having a large number of tree species and a view of the mountains. Trail Branches (in order of trail difficulty) for East Lakeshore Trails include: • David Ferry Branch: Easy • Glendale Branch: Easy • Glendale Shortcut Trail: Easy

Coytee Loop Branch: Moderate • Sinking Creek Branch: Moderate • Lotterdale Branch: Moderate • Jackson Bend Branch: Moderate • Morganton Branch: Easy / Moderate Rosemary Marshall, Past President of the Tennessee Trails Association recalled the trail as, “One of the most beautiful and accessible hiking trails in our part of East Tennessee.”
