Due Today: Creation Myths and Gods of Mount Olympus Monday, January 9, 2012 • Walk-IN: Sit in your groups and take out your Major Gods of Mount Olympus Chart, as well as your notes on the Creation Myths. Then turn in your signed course expectations. • Learning Objective: • Students will be able to identify the 12 major Gods of Mount Olympus, the Roman name, realm they rule, and symbols. • Students will use a graphic organizer to improve their understanding of creation myths. • Agenda: • Gods of Olympus Review Jeopardy • Creation Myth Graphic Organizer Homework: Study for Council of the Gods Quiz

  7. Wednesday/Thursday, January 11-12, 2012 Due Today: Two Great Gods of the Earth Study Questions • Walk-IN: Take out your Council of the Gods of Mt. Olympus chart and turn it in to the in-box. • Learning Objective: • Students will demonstrate their understanding of the 12 major Greek Gods/Goddesses and the realms they rule and symbols attributed to them. • Students will increase their vocabulary by learning Greek Root words, and the different meanings they have. • Students will improve reading comprehension by discussing selected texts with their peers. • Students will read to locate information and identify key main ideas. • Agenda: • Council of the Gods Quiz • Greek Roots (Anthro-Hypno) • Gods of the Earth Review • Cornell Notes and Flower Myths Homework: Read and complete Study Guide for The Earliest Heroes (pages 78-85)

Greek Roots (Anthropo-Hypno) • Turn to page ix in your Vocabulary Workbook. • For each Greek Root, you must write down the meaning or meanings of the root. • Next you must find an example of a word with the Greek Root within. • After that you must write down the definition of the word containing the Greek Root. • You must complete the front side (anthropo-hypno) for next BLOCKDAY.

Turn In and Homework • Turn in your Cornell Notes on the Flower Myths. • Turn in The Two Great Gods of the Earth and The Earliest Heroes Study Questions. • Homework: Read The Stories of Love and Adventure and complete the study guide questions (both sides of the handout). Pages 96-114, 136-138. • Homework: Complete Greek Roots Handout (anthropo-hypno) for next blockday.
