  1. Gravity By: Marissa Steudler

  2. What is Gravity? • Gravity is the force that attracts a body toward the center of earth, or toward any other physical body having mass. • Gravity was discovered by earth dwellers who were experiencing the consequences of tripping and falling.

  3. Gravity was Discovered by Newton? • NO!!!!!! • Many people think that gravity was discovered by Newton which is untrue. • Newton discovered that gravity is Universal. • Newton describes gravity as a force.

  4. What is said about Gravity • Albert Einstein said that gravity is the result of the curvature of space – time. • Gravity assisted in running our universe. • Galileo said that gravity is like falling objects rolling down a ramp. • Kepler describes gravity as the force that is necessary to account for motion. • Newton combined both of these theories

  5. Newton’s Law of Gravity • The law states that every point mass in the universe attracts every other e point mass with a force that is directly proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the distance between the,. • Simpler said – What goes up must come down.

  6. What new insight does this topic provide? • I didn’t realize until researching this topic more about how often we see gravity at work. We see gravity at work any time we drop a book, step on a scale, or toss a ball up in the air. Until I sat down to do this project and really thought about the effects that gravity had on us I didn’t really pay attention to it much. When the truth is gravity is all around us and it is always present in the things we are doing. By looking into this topic more and going beyond my prior knowledge of gravity already, I was able to expand my knowledge and figure out that gravity is always present and all about us.

  7. Connection of Gravity with Physics 001 • Gravity is a topic that we covered in class a few weeks back. Gravity connects with physics 001, not only because it was covered in class, but also because gravity is apart of physics. Back in elementary school we learned that what goes up must come down, which relates to gravity and it was really cool to learn more about it in class because I was able to relate it back to something that I did way back when. • Much simpler said, Gravity is apart of physics which simply relates it to this course.
