  1. Nebular Theory

  2. How would you define/ describe the following: • 1. What is the Solar System? • 2. What are the Planets in our Solar system? • 3. The order of the Planets? • 4. What is the Sun? • 5. What are Asteroids? • 6. What are Meteors? • 7. What are Meterorites?

  3. 1. What is the Solar System? • All of the stuff that is “near” our sun- planets, moons, asteroids, etc. • 2. What are the Planets in our Solar system? • MVEMJSUNP • 3. The order of the Planets? • 4. What is the Sun? • Big Ball of burning Gas…. • 5. What are Asteroids? • “small” Rocky bodies- mostly in between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter • 6. What are Meteors? • A “space rock” that falls through our atmosphere and burns up • 7. What are Meterorites? • A meteor that does not burn up, and hits the ground

  4. How did Our Solar System get here? • Nebula: A big blob of gas and dust. • It has gases that “want” to expand, but the spinning of the huge cloud keeps it intact.

  5. It Begins to spin, forms a big ball shaped structure, and flattens out in the middle.

  6. Gravity begins impacting the particles, causing some to become a “protosun”, and dust and other debris to become “protoplanets”.

  7. After millions* of years, a solar system with planets, etc. develops
