  2. The Duties of a Shepherd • The shepherd is to feed the flock according to the integrity of his heart, searching out green pastures. Psalm 78:71-72, Eze. 34:23, John 21: 15-17 • The Shepherd is to watch over the sheep, by day and by night, both to offer protection from danger, and to know the state of his flock. Prov.27:23, Ezek. 34:12, Luke 2:8 • The Shepherd is to lead by his voice, guiding the flock to quiet resting places where they might not fear. Psalm 23:2-4, Jer. 23:3-4, John 10:4
