  2. Why should we be concerned? • A pregnant mother exposed to second-hand smoke puts her baby at risk for : • miscarriage • stillbirth • impaired lung function • premature birth • low birth weight

  3. Why should we be concerned? • Adults regularly exposed to second-hand smoke put themselves at greater risk for : • lung cancer • heart disease • stroke • dizziness and nausea • increased heart rate and blood pressure • eye irritation • headaches • cough and sore throat

  4. We Need to Protect Ourselves and our Children! • Advocate for a smoke-free workplace • Smoke-free home • Advocate for policy on smoke-free public places • Smoke free restaurants, public places • non-smoking sections • speak to the manager

  5. Why is it up to Us? Federal Government, Ministry of Health Provincial Government, Ministry of Health and LongTerm Care Municipal Government We, the People!
