Economic Situation 1989- Fall of Communism 1992- Poland came out of recession, (transform the centrally- controlled economy into a market-oriented system) 1995-The Polish currency zloty became fully convertible and has floated freely since mid-April 2000. 1999- The country became a full NATO member 2004- Poland joined the European Union (adopted the EU's common external trade policy and measures)
