    How to fundraise for large events and your Renaissance Program By: Zach Robinson, Musselman High Student Council
  2. You have to Spend Money to make Money Holding Events- Talents Shows, Pageants, Dances, Donkey Basketball They have the potential for large profits, but cost money to create Buddy System- Pair up with events already being held at school
  3. Expenses----$525 Examples of an EventTalent Show Income----$2556 500 Tickets sold for $5 In school performance (6-7th periods) Auditions fee $5 After school shows work, but don’t have as large of a draw with students Tech (lights, sound, etc.) $200 Winners awards ($150, 100, 75) Free Judges (class officers and school business partner)
  4. Total Profits After all expenses actual turnover….. $2026!!
  5. Don’t Spread too Thin Add events little by little Started 2nd semester of 2007-2008 Only had teacher shirts and renaissance incentive cards Now lead over 30 events and activities a year Beginning budget: roughly $1,500 Now………
  6. Average Budget Spend on just Renaissance not including other Student Council activities…. $11,500-$12,000!!!!
  7. Funding a Large Event The entire year’s fundraising leads up to a single large event Lol-Apple-Ooza!! Planning begins around first week of 2nd semester A large field day to reward students for hard work all year and pump them up for exams and standardized testing
  8. What Lol-Apple-Ooza Is 3 hour field event that allows students to relax from the stresses of end of year testing, graduation, etc. Has games, inflatables, prizes, and food Every student leaves with a prize (coupons, giveaways, scholarships)
  9. Lol-Apple-ooza Costs In recent years, $6,000 to put on Costs offset by $2,000-$4,000 by fundraising Only about $2,000 is coming out of pocket
  10. How We Fund it Excess from all Year- Saving profits from events throughout year(budgeting) Make Friends- Business partners, other clubs, PTA&PTSA Soliciting- Getting community businesses to participate in event by cash/coupon donations Sponsorship Squares- Each student gets sponsored to attend
  11. Budgeting Multiple events that have high income, even though they have costs to put on(dances, talent show, pageants) While some profit is spent on smaller events throughout the year(pep rallies, Rise & Shine, Renaissance Days etc.) most is saved to fund large events
  12. Make Friends School Business partners are awesome to have(free judges, money donations) PTA & PTSA’s love to volunteer and can help financially Clubs from the school have games at Lol-Apple-Ooza and are willing to pay to have a booth
  13. Soliciting This is where having a leadership class is extremely useful Have the community get involved by donating to the event Local business can go above and beyond to make sure every student that attends gets recognized Leadership students can go to businesses
  14. Sponsorship Squares Students sell 3 squares($10) to get into the event Can sell more for better chance of winning raffle prizes Not a fundraiser Sponsoring by family and community gets everyone involved in the event
  15. Expenses Breakdown of Budget Income Soliciting: $450 Soliciting: 960 coupons & donations (gift cards, etc.) PTSA: $250 scholarship and volunteers Attendance Dept: $500 PASS: $100 Sponsorship Squares: $4,000 Total: $5,300 Inflatables: $3,495 Giveaway Prizes(TV’s, iPads, etc.): $2,036 Scholarships: $1,000 Gift Cards: $550 Game and Craft Supplies: $300 Total: $7,381
  16. Expense for Lol-Apple-Ooza Out of a $7,381 cost… Only $2,081 is paid by the Student Council/Renaissance budget!!!!
  17. How can I do that? Make a budget Prioritize Make friends and fundraise Connect with other school groups and business partners Don’t do it alone
  18. Recap Time Wise spending (Spending money, making money) Don’t spread too thin Funding a large event (budgeting) Make friends and partners Do it!!!
