The StFX Alumni Aquatic Centre, a historic 25m pool on campus opened in 1981, serves as the only pool in Antigonish. With a capacity of 230 people, it generates revenue through community memberships and classes. However, it faces the challenge of increasing membership and daily traffic, particularly among its primary demographic—students. Strategies to enhance engagement include researching local demographics, studying successful pools in the area, and developing classes aimed at student interest. Ways to Approach Problem • Research the number of children in Antigonish • Research what other pools in the area have done to be successful • Research major revenue makers with regards to pools • Look at ways in which the pool can connect to students with regards to classes.
