  1. Opening ParagraphsRead the following openings and discuss what works well and what could be improved.

  2. When I came to Monty I was disipointed that it wasn’t the school that I wanted to go to. When I got led to my classroom for the first time I started to think where my classroom was and how I would get there.

  3. Nervous, scared and excited, I made my way into Monty. My very first impression was…WOW! I felt like my legs were going to turn into helicopters and fly away! That’s how nervous I was.

  4. The first day when I came to montgomery it seemed to be scary at first because I diden’t now what to do and where to go and if I was late for my class’s that I had I diden’t know what the teachers would think of me! It seemed like I would be getting lost all the time.

  5. As the build up to starting Montgomery loomed in the air I became more and more excited of meeting new people, entering new lessons and learning new languages, but still the nerves stayed.

  6. My first impressions of Montgomery were not exactly optomistic – but then again, none of my thoughts usually are. Looking up at tall girls with foundation smuthered on their faces to hide spots. Teachers with high expectations, strict voices, and most of all, teachers that were grumpy 24/7 but my parents told me it would be fine (like parents usually do) however with all the reassurance in the world, I still didn’t seem to see the good side of the whole situation.

  7. I stood in the mirror with my brand new uniform on. My shirt (like everything else) was crisp, clean and smelt like a brand new car. My mum was going through a list of important things like: making sure I looked smart; checking that my shoes didn’t have one mark on them and, most of all, that I was ready for the real thing.

  8. My first day of Montgomery I was so excited about what friends I will make what my teacher will think of me and what classes I will have. I felt like I really fitted in but what I was really scared of was detentions and too much homework I sometimes struggle with homework but in Montgomery there are diffrent way’s of doing homework so now I dont. Detentions I’ve not really had detentions before and I’m not going to either.
