  3. Milk comes from Dairy Cows • Cows must have a calf in order to produce milk. • Diets consist of hay, grains, protein sources and other vitamins and minerals. • Cows can drink anywhere from 25 to 50 gallons of water a day. www.rockymtnrefl.com/cows.jpg

  4. Farm life • Cows are milked 6-8 minutes, 2 to 3 times per day. • Dairy cows give an average of 6-1/2 gallons of milk per day.
