  2. There are three local councils: • Council of Jewish Life and Learning (CJLL) • Senior Adult Council • Youth and Family Council

  3. What Council Members Do: • Review community programs and funding applications • Monitor program performance • Make recommendations to Planning and Allocations Committee (P & A) for local allocations

  4. The Planning and Allocations Committee • Consists of council co-chairs and other lay leaders of the Jewish Federation • Makes final recommendations to the Board of the Jewish Federation

  10. The Allocations Pool • Total allocations calculated from • the collectable annual campaign • unrestricted endowment draw • income from interest and fees

  11. Allocation Distribution • Israel and overseas (35% of collected dollars from the annual campaign) • Local and national programs • Federation’s operating expenses

  12. The Process • Two to three council members make informal site visits to each program before agency application deadline (May 15, 2011). COUNCIL MEMBERS SELECT DATES. • Agencies submit completed applications by May 15, 2011 • Councils review their applications • Two to three council members make second, more formal site visits to each program • Council members report back to councils about site visit • Agency Execs address unanswered questions of council members • Councils evaluate programs using the program/scholarship evaluation tool • The P&A Committee reviews and evaluates partner agencies • The Councils and P&A committee’s combined evaluations determine the allocations recommendations • Co-chairs make specific dollar recommendations to P&A Committee • The P&A committee presents the final recommendation to the Board • The Board of the Jewish Federation approves the allocation

  13. Priority Levels • Level 1: Vital services; immediate and detrimental impact; lives at risk. • Level 2: Detrimental impact on the future of our Jewish community. • Level 3: Service can be suspended without significant harm to the community. • Level 4: Duplicative programs.

How do I access the completed applications? • Go to www.jewishcincinnati.org • Click on Allocations (left column) • Go to individual links for each council on Allocations page http://www.jewishcincinnati.org/page.aspx?id=217479 • These links will be in the right hand column, underneath the allocations links, and will be titled “Administrative Links”. * • Log in as one of the following chairs: • CJLL (Chase Kohn) • Seniors (Kathie Kaplan) • Youth and Family (Susan Brenner) • Planning and Allocations (Suzette Fisher) • * You will be prompted to enter the login/password when you click on the administrative link for your council.   17. Term Limits • Council Members • Up to three consecutive two-year terms • Council Co-chairs— • One two-year term rotating in alternate years. • P & A Committee Member— • Up to two consecutive three-year terms. • Chair of Planning and Allocations— • One three-year term.
