  3. No provincial exams – replaced by: • Literacy assessment • Numeracy assessment • This will occur sometime between grade 11-12

Graduation Program Update • The new numeracy assessment will be introduced in January 2018 • No more Math/Science/English 10 provincial exam & blended mark • New assessment is not linked to class mark but will show on transcript • The new literacy assessment will be introduced in January 2020 • The new Grade 10 curriculum will take effect in all B.C. schools July 1, 2018 • Effective September 2018 • English 10 Modular approach - 2 / 2 Credit Modules • Composition- with literature, Spoken Language, Creative Writing or 1st People’s • Career Education (2 courses- Career Life Education replaces Planning 10 and Career Life Connections replaces Grad Trans 12) • Science, Math, Socials & Phys Ed • Fine Arts Education 10-12 (4 credits) and/or ADST 10-12 (4 credits) • The new Grades 11 & 12 curriculum will take effect in all B.C. schools July 1, 2019

For Students entering grades 10-12 in the 2018-2019 school year: • Will follow the 2018 graduation program requirements. • Write the numeracy and literacy assessments before graduation. • Will follow the 2018 graduation program requirements and take planning 10. • Write the numeracy and literacy assessments before graduation. • Will follow the 2018 graduation program requirements and take planning 10. • Write the numeracy assessment before graduation. • Write the English 12 provincial exam after course completion.

  6. 2018 Graduation Program If you are entering Grade 10 or 11 in 2018/19you are in the 2018 Graduation Program. To graduate, you will require 80 credits total – with a minimum of 16 at the grade 12 level, and 28 elective course credits. 52 credits are required from the following: • Two Career Education courses (8 credits total) (replaces Planning 10 and Graduation Transitions) • Physical and Health Education 10 (4 credits) • Science 10 (4 credits), and a Science 11 or 12 (4 credits) • Social Studies 10 (4 credits), and a Social Studies 11 or 12 (4 credits) • A Math 10 (4 credits), and a Math 11 or 12 (4 credits) • A Language Arts 10, 11 & 12 (12 credits) • An Arts Education 10, 11, or 12 and/or an Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies 10, 11, or 12 (4 credits)

  7. Fine Arts/Applied Skills • Must have at least one Fine Art and/or Applied skill in grade 10, 11 or 12

  8. External Credits • Courses that are outside of school • Music • Sports • Dance • Driver Training • Language

How do I apply for This Program? • Applications will be available when we meet with you individually for course selection starting next week- Each program has its own package • Applications are accepted based on meeting the minimum entrance requirements • Programs are subject to enrollment and begin in Sept. • Hand in completed application to Ms. Lemieux/Mrs. Domitruk by February 28 for priority placement

Interdisciplinary arts Theatre academy – offers education /experience parallel to the film industry! • Actors – 4 COURSE PROGRAM & RECEIVE A Career experience certificate • Full credit courses(4 credit course) or work experience-30hours • This can be Course credit for students interested in art or an applied skill in any of the following areas: carpentry, marketing, art, prop making, set design, dance/choreography, digital art, lighting for theatre/film, stage management, sound engineering and design. • All of these courses are completed by December 15. (All the work is completed out of school hours, except carpentry, to allow your school day to be unaffected while building an enhanced resume for college & university. • Our school is applying for: Mamma Mia – audition times will be announced by end of February!
