  4. GET TO KNOW US…WE’RE HERE TO HELP! Who are the people that make up the ISS?

  5. Graduate Assistants The Graduate Assistants work with ISS to provide a variety of programs for Lehigh students throughout the year.

  6. We take all kinds of questions! Will I have problems returning to the U.S. if I visit Cuba? If I sell my blood is the money taxable? Is that against U.S. immigration laws? How do I get married? I was speeding for safety reasons. Can I fight the ticket in court? My spouse seems to be very unhappy here. What can he (or she) do while I’m studying? Can I return from Canada on an expired visa? I am having a lot of trouble keeping up with the reading. Can you recommend a private English tutor? Can you recommend a good hairdresser? Lawyer? Pediatrician? Dentist? Car insurance agent? Real estate agent?

Make an appointment if you know your question will take a long time or if you need to see a particular adviser.

  8. What about settling into life in the U.S.? A few survival tips! • Ask questions. • Be proactive in making friends and learning about your new school, city, country, and culture. Try new things. • Balance work and play; old and new. • Eat, sleep, and exercise regularly and well. • Loosen your expectations during the adjustment period. Try not to jump to conclusions; reserve judgment. • Know about and anticipate culture shock.

  9. A good start is up for GRABS! • Get connected to the ISS-L • Read, before you delete, emails from the ISS. • Ask, when in doubt! We welcome allquestions, that’s what we are here for! • Be proactive in getting involved and enjoying Lehigh and Bethlehem. • Stay in legal status and abide U.S. immigration regulations.
