  1. Aims • To understand what bullying is and why it happens. • To understand the purpose of Anti-Bullying Week.

  2. What Do You Know about Bullying? Do you know anybody who has been bullied? Have you ever been bullied?

  3. What Is Bullying? Can you spot any bullying that is happening in this picture? Remember, bullying is when something happens over and over again. It is not when an unkind thing happens only once. Click on the hotspots. Bullying can be shouting at another person. Bullying can be saying unkind things to somebody or about somebody. Bullying can be saying unkind things because of skin colour or a disability. X 2 3 X 5 X Bullying can be when saying unkind things about how somebody looks or what they are wearing. Bullying can be saying somebody cannot join in. X 4 X 1

  4. Why Does Bullying Happen? Bullying sometimes happens because we are all different. different. ? Bullies are jealous of talents. ? Bullies are jealous of friendships. ? Bullies feel bad about themselves. ? Bullies think they are not very good at something.

Anti-Bullying Week 2017 • In 2017, Anti-Bullying Week is between 13th and 17th November. • The theme this year is to promote difference and equality in schools: #alldifferent • #allequal • People are asked to wear blue to show their support. • Wearing blue shows support for those who are or have suffered from bullying.

  8. What Should You Do If You Are Being Bullied? Tell someone! Even if it’s not you being bullied, help other people around you. Somebody can always help.
