  2. Local Church Membership • The Lord adds anyone who is saved to his body – the church “universal” (Ac. 2:47) • Anyone who is saved should join himself to the body – the church “local” (Ac. 9:26)

  3. Local Church Membership • Saul Joined Himself (Acts 9:26-29) • His action was immediate • His action was his initiative • His action was tested by the church • His action actively involved him in the work

  4. Church Contribution • The contribution of attendance • Each member should assemble for worship (1 Cor. 11:20; 14:23) • Each member should not willfully forsake the assembling (Heb. 10:24-26) • Each member should desire the heavenly assembly (Heb. 12:23)

Church Contribution • The contribution of attendance • The contribution of money (1 Cor. 16; 2 Cor. 9) • Obediently – “As I gave order … so also do you” • Regularly – “upon the first day of the week …” • Individually – “let each one of you …” • Systematically – “lay by him in store …” • Proportionally – “as he may prosper …” • Liberally – “he that sows bountifully …” • Purposefully – “purposed in his heart …” • Cheerfully – “God loves a cheerful giver …”
