Update on LifeLine Telephone Program: July 1 Implementation and Expansions

The LifeLine Telephone Program is set for targeted implementation on July 1, incorporating key updates. The proposed decision on modifications for improving LifeLine services has been issued. Notable changes include the adoption of specific support discounts that are decoupled from AT&T's basic rate. The program will expand to include data services for DDTP consumers and wireless customers. Wireless carriers will also be allowed reimbursement for LifeLine discounts. A meeting with CBOs was conducted on March 13, 2009, to address program concerns, followed by the LIOB meeting on March 24, 2009.
