  2. When Do I Know Enough To Obey? Leviticus 11:9-12

  3. How Much Did Apostles Know? • Told Jesus would die (Matt. 16:21-23) • Matthew 20:17-28 • Told the Holy Spirit will come (Acts 1:3-8) • Do not leave Jerusalem (Acts 1:4). • Acts 2:1 “they were together in one place” • Their obedience did not depend on a complete understanding

  4. Acts 2:36-41 • Fourfold instruction (v.38) • repent • be baptized • in name of Jesus • for remission of sins • How much taught in one or a few days? • Learned many things after initial obedience (v.42 and 46)

  5. Acts 8:4-13 • Obeyed the day they heard • Preaching: “the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ” (v.12) • Result: Baptisms (v.12) • This was ENOUGH to cause people to believe and obey.

  6. Acts 8:26-40 • Preaching: “preached Jesus to him” (v.35) • Eunuch brings up baptism (v.36) • “What prevents me from being baptized?” (Do I know enough?) • “If you believe with all your heart, you may” (v.37) • He knew ENOUGH after just a few hours.

  7. Acts 16:13-15 • Takes place one afternoon • “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord…” (v.15) • She knew ENOUGH to be baptized, which is referred to as being “faithful”.

  8. What did these KNOW? • Obedience included: belief, repentance, confession, baptism in water for the remission of sin. • None of these could have had a full understanding at that point based on the amount of teaching done. • THIS WAS ENOUGH

  9. APPLICATION • Some older children may ask if they “know enough”. • Some adults who have never obeyed may ask if they “know enough”. • Truth has been proclaimed many times – so reason for no response must be: • YOU ARE NOT CONVINCED. • YOU DO NOT BELIEVE.

  10. Reasons To Believe in Jesus • Matches and Fulfills Prophecies of Messiah • Taught as one having authority (Matt. 7:28-29; 28:18; 12:41-42; Heb. 3:3) • Demonstrated attributes of God (all knowing, all powerful, Eternal, Ominpresence) • He was raised from the dead! (1 Cor. 15:6; John 20:27; 20:29)

  11. Do You Believe? NO Become Convinced Read, Study, Investigate God’s Word. YES There is nothing which prevents you from being baptized.
