3. 3 Introduction Mission: To provide communications and information systems support in its entirety to include Mainframe 3270 Access, Information Assurance, Voice, Classified Data, Unclassified Data and NMCI oversight for operational units and tenant organizations aboard Camp Pendleton, to improve the combat readiness of the operating forces. About CIS: The Communications and Information Systems Department is led by Mr. Pete Copeland and composed of the following Divisions: Operations, Service and Support, Telephone, Data, Mainframe Support, Information Assurance, and Communications Electronics Maintenance.

Responsible for the planning of telecommunications network architectural plans and support of existing structure. Acts as the main point of contact for customers aboard Camp Pendleton requiring communications and information systems support. 13. 13 Branches Area Control Center (ACC) - Provides Defense Messaging Dissemination for MCB Camp Pendleton, MCI-West Installations (29 Palms, Bridgeport, Barstow, MCRD San Diego, Miramar and Yuma), deployed units and all CONUS active duty Marine Activities west of the Mississippi. Network Operations Center (NOC) - Provides MCW SIPRNET access and support for MCB Camp Pendleton and legacy NIPRNET server and desktop support for MCB Camp Pendleton and tenant organizations. 18. The mission of the Information Assurance Division is to ensure the 5 Pillars of IA are maintained (Confidentiality, Integrity, Authentication, Non-Repudiation, and Availability). The IA Division has 3 Branches: IA Branch, EKMS Branch, and the CAW Branch. The IA Branch oversees compliance with directed Information Conditions (INFOCONs are similar in nature to ThreatCons, but associated with networks and information systems instead of physical security). The IA Branch also oversees timely compliance to MCNOSC Operational Directives and Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts. In addition, the IA Branch manages the Certification and Accreditation process. Anything being added to the NIPRNET or SIPRNET must undergo certification and accreditation and be approved by the Designated Approval Authority (DAA). The EKMS Branch manages the MCB CPEN Encryption devices (TACLANES, STU-III�s, KIV-7), consisting of 1,114 Line Items (majority (600) are RT-1523 (PRK-119) Tactical Radios used at Training Commands & School Houses). There is an initiative underway for all Garrison EKMS to fall under the management of the Base EKMS Account and Management. We manage 19 Local Elements off the CPEN EKMS Account (O&T, Logs, Hosp, Command Center, NCIS, MCMWTC, SNCOA, WFTBn, H&S Bn, H&S Bn S3, Fleet Hosp, MCB Protocol, CPAO, SOI, CIS, AAS Bn, EOD, RSU, SES). And finally, the Certification Authority Workstation Branch. The CPEN CAW is a Regional CAW, (MCB, I MEF, Div, FSSG, 3 MAW CPEN, 29 Palms, Yuma, and Marine Dets at: Lamore CA, Bangar WA, Travis AFB, Ft. Bliss TX, Lackland AFB TX, Ft Sill OK.
