Comparative Analysis of Insulation Types: Polyester vs. Eco-Friendly Romanian Insulation

A recent experiment evaluated the thermal performance of two insulation types: traditional polyester insulation and an ecological Romanian insulation made from sawdust, glue, paper, and water, layered with recycled newspapers. We built a model "house" using a postal box and heated it to 60˚C, tracking temperature drop in 5-minute intervals over 25 minutes for each insulation type. The results demonstrate the efficacy of each insulation material in retaining heat, providing insights for eco-friendly building practices.

  1. Heat measurements A few weeks ago we made some measurements on types of insulation We had chosen 2 types of insulation to experiment with. One of them is polyester insulation and the other one is a “Romanian” made insulation, an ecological one, made from sawdust, glue, paper, water, and we covered it in recycled news-papers.

  2. The first one • In the first experiment we let the “house”, made from a postal-box, not insulated and put an electrical resistance inside. • We raised the temperature up to 60˚C and then we stopped the heating process . • We made a table and measured from 5 to 5 minutes during 25 minutes how much the temperature had dropped .

  3. The second one : • In the second experiment we insulated the “house” with polyester pieces and repeated the heating process. And we measured the cooling process again from 5 to 5 minutes

  4. The third one: In the third experiment we insulated the “house” with “Romanian” made insulation, an ecological one, made from sawdust, glue, paper, water, and we covered it in recycled news-papers and repeated the heating process. And we measured the cooling process again from 5 to 5 minutes

  5. Conclusions:
