Effects of Varying CS Intensity in 3 Trials of Conditioned Stimulus Program

This experiment investigates the impact of varying conditioned stimulus (CS) intensity on acquisition and extinction by conducting three trials within the ‘CC’ program. Participants will engage in 50 acquisition trials and 50 extinction trials at three different CS intensities, specifically 50, 70, and 100 decibels. The unconditioned stimulus (US) intensity remains constant, and subjects will be monitored across trials. Data will be recorded in Excel, with graphs created to illustrate acquisition and extinction results alongside CS intensity labels.

  1. Varying CS Intensity Run 3Trials in the ‘CC’ Program and then graph the Acq. and Ext. data: (in Excel, label across Row 1 “50 Decibels”, “70 Decibels”, “100 Decibels”) Each time, enter a different value for CS intensity, and keep all other components the same. Enter the following values: • Subjects: 4 • Acquisition Trials: 50 • Extinction Trials: 50 • CS Intensity: 50, then 70, then 100 • US Intensity: 6 • CS-US Interval: 0.5 Remember: -hit F2 to begin a new trial -in your H: drive, find the CC file and rename it each time -see Lab Manual/ ‘CC’ Handout for instructions
