  1. IRIS Adapt Child Safeguarding Forms

  2. Background All LA schools have access to the IRIS Adapt reporting system. The system is currently used to report racist and bullying incidents and reportable accidents to the LA. The system can also provide schools with recording and analysis tools for their own internal use. For example, schools will soon have access to a minor accident book.

  3. Proposal The system has been extended to include two low-level child safeguarding forms for use by schools. One is intended for general access in the school, for all staff to report any minor concerns regarding a particular child. The other form is intended to be confidential and for use by the Designated Person and/or head teacher in school. Schools can control access to these forms for themselves.

  4. How does it work? • General low-level concerns are logged on the general access form by any member of staff. • When three entries have been made for any one child, an email alert is sent to the Designated Person in school. • The DP in school can then record any action taken on the separate DP form. Note: in suspected serious cases the member of staff would be expected to report immediately to the DP

  5. The low-level form Range of forms available to schools. Click to select Previous entries are listed in the data grid

  6. Entering the data

  7. Entry of key data is by selection from menu All menus and fields are fully customisable to each authority’s requirements

  8. The DP form This form includes the standard pre-CAF assessment criteria to help the DP decide whether a CAF submission is required

  9. Instant access to live data

  10. Map selected field sets

  11. Analysis of the DP form. Action taken for each child

  12. Advantages to the school • Simple and quick way to record low-level concerns • School has a complete record of entries which it can search and analyse • DP in school receives email alert – but can view the record at any time. • School has a record of any action taken

  13. Advantages to the LA • LA can demonstrate it has provided all schools with a simple and consistent way to record and track low-level concerns • LA will have access to a mass of low-level data which can help inform future policy • LA can monitor how effectively schools are dealing with low-level concerns
