  1. ANGOLAPROJECT 2002 • In May 2002 the war finally came to an end in Angola. In August 2002 RMR technical personnel were invited by the Angolan railway to evaluate the track, locomotive and maintenance facilities. • This evaluation is presently being used as the basis to determine which of the three (3) railways requires what type of technical, material and monetary input to return to some type of reliable railway operation. • The following should be recognized: • Railway “A” has about 800 km of track and 12 locomotives. Today only about 80 km of track is usable and two (2) locomotives are in operational condition. • Railway “B” has about 1300 km of track and 26 locomotives. Today only about 130 km of track is usable and five (5) locomotives are in operational conditions. • Railway “C” has about 900 km of track and 8 locomotives. Today only about 18 km of track is usable and two (2) locomotives are in operational conditions.
