  1. Hello Students, After assessing the following terms, please go through the PowerPoint at your pace write in the definitions of the terms you were unfamiliar with

  2. Narrative Writing A story (fiction or non-fiction) told with a specific order.

  3. First-Person Narrative a story is narrated by one character at a time, speaking for and about themselves

  4. Prompt The essay assignment or guiding question

  5. Most Important Events An event that defines your narrative and leads it in another direction.

  6. Conflict A struggle between the character and/or an internal or external force. Man vs. Man Man vs. nature Man vs. society Man vs. self

  7. Solution What solves the problem or resolves the conflict

  8. Strong Verbs Verbs that describe, in better detail, the actions in your narrative. Examples: “Ran” instead of “went” “screamed” instead of “said”

  9. Transitions They are the glue that holds ideas together in writing. Examples: “before”, “after”, “next”, and “finally” help guide the reader.

  10. Sensory Details Descriptions that help the readers smell, taste, touch, hear, or see.

  11. Dialogue A conversation between characters indicated by quotation marks and clue words like “said, “argued”, and “pleaded”.

  12. Chronological Order The story is written in a specific order, like beginning, middle, and end.

  13. Sequence of Events The logical order of events that occur in the narrative.
