  1. The Carbon Footprint By: Ashley Smith

  2. Carbon footprint causes: • transportation • electrical pollution • garbage • Cutting down of trees

  3. transportation • Cars, buses, and airplanes burn the most fossil fuel into the air. • More people can walk or bike to there destinations. • More people can car pool or take public transportation which means less cars on the road and less pollutants in the air. • Electric cars can be bought that are more fuel efficient.

  4. Electric pollution • Homes burn fossil fuels like coal and oil causing increased concentration of atmospheric carbon dioxide. • To cut down on electric pollution homes can be made eco friendly by adding solar panels, high efficiency lighting, ultra efficient insulation, and water conservation.

  5. Garbage • We throw our garbage away and it ends up in landfills. When placed in landfills it is burned sending an enormous amount of greenhouse gasses into the air and makes global warming worse. • To avoid the burning of so much garbage people need recycle more things and try to produce less garbage.

  6. Trees • Many trees are cut down every day. Trees and other plants collect carbon dioxide (CO2), which is a greenhouse gas. With fewer trees, it is harder for people to breathe because there is more CO2 in the air and not enough oxygen. • We must work to reduce the amount of trees we need to cut down.
