CREATE AN ANIMATED STORY CODERDOJO NOVA – SCRATCH WHITE BELT
AGENDA TODAY • Find and sit with your groups!!! • Review project schedule • Learn about • Say blocks • Broadcast blocks • Outline Stories • Start building stories • At 12:45 we will do show and tell of animations from last time
PROJECT SCHEDULE • Each group should have completed: An animation set to music that uses all team member's sprites, multiple costumes and backgrounds • Today we will begin outline a story • Groups will build their stories in scratch for next time we meet (April 27th)
HOW TO TALK IN SCATCH • The “Say” Blocks • Say () for () secs– If you want the speech bubble to disappear • Say () – If you do not want the speech bubble to disappear
HOW TO THINK IN SCRATCH • The “Think” Block • Work exactly the same as “Say” Blocks, they just create a thought bubble instead of a speech bubble
BROADCAST BLOCKS • Use Broadcast blocks to coordinate among sprites • A Broadcast block sends a message. Each message has an ID • Messages can be received, and cause an action to occur
ACTIVITY • Design your scratch story with your group • Use your sprites as characters • Use the scratch story board template Write who is in the scene here Draw the scene here Write which background you are on here Write what's happening here
NEXT STEPS • Create your story in scratch • Have this ready next time we meet • Remember – Stories must run for at least 3 minutes and should not require any interaction. Create any needed background or additional sprites to help tell the story. Record sounds and use in story.
