  3. Parent Information Night Corps History • 116 RCSCC Skeena formed in 1941 • 2015-2016 will be our 75th Training Year • Named after HMCS Skeena 1931-1944 • Our current ship (3rd) was opened in 1958 by the late Governor General of Canada; The Honourable Vincent Massey ( 1st Canadian Born GGofC )

  4. Parent Information Night What is the CIC ? ( Cadet Instructors Cadre ) • Commissioned members of the Canadian Forces • Responsible to CF, to deliver the cadet program • Cadets are NOT members of the CF • Courses at various CF Bases

  5. Parent Information Night DND and NL Relationship • DND/CF = Department of National Defence • NL = Navy League of Canada • Local Branch, NLofC Northumberland Branch • DND provides summer camps, training, uniforms, instructors • NL provides facilities, utilities, extra training
