I WANT, FOR MY CHILDREN TO:love to learn,be confident,feel safe and secure,be kind, caring, compassionate,communicate effectively with others,take responsibility and be accountable,be empathic and respect individual differences,feel valued and important members of their world,enjoy life through creating, sharing and achieving goals,demonstrate self-efficacy and high levels of self-esteem; and tomake well informed, well analysed, productive and positive decisions. I want a ‘Culture of Learning’ that:-inspires individuals to learn from within,creating a positive, productive society whichprovides the opportunities formotivation, engagement, connectedness, resilience and respect for all.

  3. Do we have a Culture of Learning in our Society? • How do we move an organisation forward? • How do we shift our society? • Long term change in direction

  4. Supportive structure – Family, school, community The family, school and community provide the supportive structures for the individual. It is important to ensure everyone understands the process for change, so goals can be easily identified and achieved. The opportunities for success will be much greater if everyone is working towards common goals.

  5. Engagement: ‘energy in action, the connection between person and activity.’ (Russell, Ainley and Frydenberg 2010:2)

  6. Motivation: ‘an internal state or condition (sometimes described as a need, desire, or want) that serves to activate or energize behaviour and give it direction.’ (Kleinginna and Kleinginna, 1981 cited in Huitt W. 2001)

  7. Connectedness: a sense of belonging, sharing and learning together

  8. Passionate, Intrinsic, lifelong learners - growth and development begins

  9. Respect: Self-respect and respect for others, also respecting the environment and everything in it.

  10. Resilience: ‘ which can be understood as being able to respond to challenging situations with positive adaptive behaviours.’ (Clarke & Feeny 2007:25)

  11. The individual can now flourish with confidence, self-efficacy, understanding individual differences and perspectives, active listening, communication, collaboration, co-operation, problem solving, decision making, analysing, questioning, creativity, innovation, appreciation etc (See Little Bendigo P.S. Four Pillars Checklist)

  12. Government – provide policies and resources to protect and enhance growth and development

  13. Feeling, understanding, recognising and valuing achievements With the ‘Buzz of Learning’ individuals are excited and inspired to achieve more and more, pushing one’s boundaries and exploring their potential.

  14. HAPPINESS AND ENJOYMENT A POSITIVE AND PRODUCTIVE SOCIETY
