First Call Conditions: Winds N to NE, 10-15 kts, seas 2-4’, 5 sec, Sun: ESE; high cirrus Time Zero:______ • N792JH (divertable) on CF River Patrol • t+0: Flare sighting SE of Bald Head • t+10: SOI calls 2JH to divert • t+10: 2JH requests SNC Search Planning • 2JH diverts to SE: (1st Search) • CSP: 33˚45’N/077˚45’W, (P)arallel to R @ 130˚; 20 legs, 10 nm, .75 TS, 1000’ AGL • Report to SNC • t+15: Draw, Upload to GPS, Fly to IP • t+17: Begin 1st search • On 5th leg to SW, spot white-hulled CC • Divert and overfly, verify all’s well • Navigator provides vector to intersect 5th leg closest to next turn point

  3. Second LNP AUX 23475 u/w from WB • t+20: SNC Recommends (2nd Search): • Move SA to NE, reorient more to North • 2JH draws from same CSP @ 100˚ to Left • t+22: At IP and begin 2nd pattern • t+25: SWB report of flare but to N • SNC moves SA N by 10 NM • t+30: 2JH draws (3rd search) • CSP 34˚05’N/077˚40’W to NE (SW corner of SA) • (C) pattern, 20 legs, 5 nm @ 020˚ (cross waves/sun), “L”, .75 TS • t+40: Begin search (3rd)

Third SA: Overturned boat • t+40: 3rd leg to SSW, mi 2, spot white small boat, to port • Divert, over-fly, mark position • Overturned, no sign of crew • Report to SNC • SWB Launches ’47 • AUX 23475 approaches SA • t+45: VS 23475, (4th search) • CSP at MOB Mark 34˚07.4’/077˚43.4’ • 2 mi legs, set @ 200˚ • Redraw VS with leg 7 as Leg # 1 • Run pattern (4th)
