Teaching & Giving Back • The Teach Texas Team trains lawyers & judges to present two 50-minute lesson plans available on the Taming Texas website to accompany the book and HBA web pages. • The teacher introduces the lawyer and judge and remains with them. • “Career Day” + Texas civics & history.

  5. 2018: Book 2 in the Taming Texas Series is released.

Nearly 14,000 Houston Students Taught • This pilot-project tests different approaches to teaching civics to Houston area students. • Nearly 10,000 students taught in 2016. • Another 3,576 students taught in 2017. • HBA staff conducted surveys of volunteers and teachers in May 2016 and May 2017. • SBOT Award, Annual Meeting, June 2016. • TSCHS team fine-tuned new PowerPoints in 2016 & created new ones in late 2017. • A positive experience for 98.11% of volunteers.
