  4. Qualifications • 75 - MBA Provision • 50 - PhD • 35 - Masters • 30 - Degree

  7. Age • 27 or under - 20 • 28 or 29 – 10 • 30 or 31 – 5 • 32 or over – 0

  8. English Language • Required for all applicants • Bachelor’s degree taught in English – must obtain letter of confirmation • IELTS level 6 or above within the last two years

  9. Visa or Switching • Depends on UK Immigration Status • Timing • Costs

  17. What is the IGS scheme? • Replaced Science and Engineering Graduate Scheme from 1 May 2007 • Allows most students to remain in the UK to work for 12 months on successful completion of the course

  18. IGS: eligible courses • Bachelors degree • Masters degree • PhD degree • Postgraduate certificate e.g. PGCE • Postgraduate diploma

  19. What work am I allowed to do? • Do not need a job offer • No restrictions – you will not need a work permit • Can set up in business • Can switch into other categories e.g. work permit or HSMP

  20. How do I know if I qualify for the scheme? • Successful completion of course within 12 months of expiry of student visa • Intention to work during 12 month period • Able to support and accommodate yourself and any dependants • Intend to leave the UK unless granted permission to switch under other worker categories • Must have valid student visa to apply in the UK

  21. All students: when should I apply? • Within 12 months of successful completion of course (expiry of student visa) • Options to apply in UK or from home country

  22. Charges • In UK-£395/£595 • Home country -£200

  23. Dependants • You can include: • Spouse • Unmarried partner • Same-sex or civil partner • Children under age of 18 • Right to work with no restriction

  24. How do I apply in the UK? • Wait for final results • Complete FLR(IGS) form • Apply before student visa expires • Use the on-line guide: http://www.shef.ac.uk/union/advice/international/igs.php
