Not Being Deaf • You have a sense of belonging just in the fact that you can hear and understand everyone around you. • You can participate in regular activities and school easier. • Never have to second guess what people are saying. • Always able to rely on familiar sounds to keep you aware of what’s going on. • You get to enjoy music and singing.
Being Deaf Deaf ‘singing.’ • Feel isolated because you can’t always understand what’s going on. • Don’t always find comfort in your family, it might usually be other deaf people. Which gives you guilt for being who you are. • You may miss things that others don’t. • Need to be more aware of where you are and what’s going on because you can’t rely on sound to tell you. • You’ll never be able to enjoy a favorite song and sing along to it.
Similarities • Everything that doesn’t involve hearing is the same. • Reading • Getting ready every day • Exercise • Zero contact sports • Ect.
