  1. The GSA MS/RF SPICE Model Checklist Thomas Moerth Manager Design Support, austriamicrosystems AG April 4th 2008

  2. Outline • Who is GSA • The MS/RF Subcommittee • The MS/RF Model Working Group • The MS/RF SPICE Model Checklist

  3. Who is GSA Mission & Vision GSA's mission is to accelerate the growth and increase the return on invested capital of the global semiconductor industry by fostering a more effective fabless ecosystem through collaboration, integration and innovation.  To fulfill this mission, GSA will: • Address the challenges and enable industry-wide solutions within the supply chain, including intellectual property (IP), electronic design automation (EDA)/design, wafer manufacturing, test and packaging.  • Provide a platform for meaningful global collaboration • Identify and articulate market opportunities • Encourage and support entrepreneurship • Provide members with comprehensive and unique market intelligence • Members include companies throughout the supply chain representing 25 countries across the globe.

  4. Design Phase Manufacturing Phase Evaluation Phase Production Phase Working Groups Design Kits Existing Mask CAD PCM Packaging Future Models Process Test IP The MS/RF Subcommittee • Charter: To create a mixed-signal/RF ecosystem • Chairman: Marco Racanelli, Jazz Semiconductor • Participants: MS/RF Design (EDA, IP, Design Services), Fabless, IDMs, Foundries • Organized in several working groups Working Group Chairmen: • Process Design Kits Thomas Moerth (austriamicrosystems) • Models Roberto Tinti (Agilent) • Process Checklist/PCM David Schwan (RF Micro Devices) • IP David Schwan (RF Micro Devices)

  5. The MS/RF Model Working Group Charta • The MS/RF Model Working Group is developing mixed-signal and RF requirements for characterization vehicle, SPICE modeling, design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and package modeling. Deliverables • The Mixed-Signal/RF SPICE Model Checklist – A document completed by the SPICE model developer and delivered with each new release of a SPICE model. This document helps developers better understand the source data, completeness and quality of the model before using it to design ICs or to re-extract it to fit into specific product needs. A Checklist Users Guide and Checklist Taxonomy & Definitions are also available. • http://www.gsaglobal.org/subcommittees/msrf/model.asp

  6. The MS/RF SPICE Model Checklist I

  7. The MS/RF SPICE Model Checklist II

  8. The MS/RF SPICE Model Checklist III

  9. The MS/RF SPICE Model Checklist IV

  10. The MS/RF SPICE Model Checklist V

  11. The MS/RF SPICE Model Checklist VI

  12. Outlook • Identify possible improvements for the Model Checklist • Increase the adoption of the Model Checklist

  13. Summary • GSA generates momentum for the fabless ecosystem • The GSA MS/RF Subcommittee works on MS/RF topics • The GSA MS/RF Model Working Group focuses on the standardization of modeling • The Model Checklist is a perfect instrument to compare the modeling of processes
