  2. Setting of The Story The season is Fall. The place is a garden.

  3. Main Characters The Turnip is the main character. Turnip Old Man

  4. Plot or Problems • One day an old man dug a turnip seed and said Grow, grow little turnip, grow sweet! Grow, grow, little turnip, grow strong! And the turnip grew up sweet and strong and big and enormous. Then, one day the old man went to pull it up. He pulled and pulled but he could not pull it up. He called the old woman. She pulled on the old man and they pulled and pulled and pulled again but they could not pull it up. So the old woman called her granddaughter. The granddaughter pulled on the the old woman the old woman pulled on the old man, the old man pulled on turnip. And they pulled and pulled again but they could not pull it up. The granddaughter called the black dog.

  5. Personality of the Main Character The main character is the turnip. It is lazy. He just stands. He gets pulled a lot in the story. He does not work at all after he is fully grown.

  6. Personality of the Main Character The other main character is the old man. He never gives up, even if its dangerous. Sometimes he needs help like in the story.

  7. Author’s Purpose The Author’s purpose is never giving up. Never giving up is important. It is important because then you can get that thing done.

  8. What Questions Would you ask one of the Characters? Old man, was it hard to not give up? Turnip, did it hurt when they pulled on you?

  9. Write A Different Ending to the Story The dog called the bunny. And they pulled and pulled again. But this time it came right out. After that they ate it. Then they moved to NYC.
